Dornan is recruiting for a BIM Lead (Piping and Mechanical) to work as part of the team in our Head Office in Cork, Ireland.

Reporting to the Group BIM Director, the Piping and Mechanical BIM Lead will be responsible for the planning, design, and delivery of allocated project(s) or sub part of BIM projects. In addition to this, the successful candidate will liaise and coordinate with Dornan Engineers, Design Teams, and third-party contractors to ensure the work is delivered in an efficient manner and with collaboration from all teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate breakout workshops and meetings.
  • Attend meetings with the internal team and third-party contractors.
  • Compile minutes or delegate action items from meetings to junior piping modelers and ensuring completion.
  • To support and execute the modeling coordinated services and front-end studies as required.
  • Comply with the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) standards, and specific plans for each project.
  • Production of weekly Updates of the Navisworks Model and issue Clash Detection Reports
  • Assist with weekly project reports including timesheets, percentages complete and narratives on work completed.
  • Deliver to project program the production of fully annotated and coordinated General Arrangements, Section drawings, 2D Builderworks Drawings (BWIC) and piping Isometrics.
  • Oversee the production of “As Built” drawings.
  • Ensure models are QAQC’ed and comply with Dornan BIM and CAD Standards.
  • Assist to ensure projects provide the best value whilst delivered on time and within budget

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering/BIM or related discipline
  • 3-5 years experience in a similar piping design role
  • Understanding the principles of piping good routing practices, spatial awareness, requirements for supports and accessibility for construction and maintenance.
