Dornan are recruiting for a Payroll Manager to join a dynamic payroll team based in the company’s head office in Little Island, Cork. A hybrid working model in place for remote working.

Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager, the Payroll Manager will be a key member of the Finance Department and will play an important role in ensuring accurate and timely delivery of all payroll services in Ireland, UK and Europe. 

The Payroll Manager will have responsibility for managing staff within the payroll department, ensuring their growth and development, through regular performance feedback, career development, team and individual goal attainment.

Dornan are a leading Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation contractor with projects in Ireland, Europe and the UK. Dornan are involved in projects across many sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Power, Waste to Energy, Commercial, Data Centre and Petrochemical.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Managing group payrolls including review and sign off
  • Managing staff working in the Payroll Department
  • Managing Outsource Partner and ensuring smooth interaction with payroll staff
  • Liaising with HR, Finance, foreign tax advisers, Tax Administrations in different countries, and other external partners and institutions such as pension and life companies
  • Reviewing cost reports
  • Liaising with site management teams as may be required from time to time
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and local regulations
  • Ensuring that pay and entitlements are paid in accordance with agreed terms and conditions
  • Liaising with the Tax Department in relation to tax compliance across all payrolls for example, expenses deductions, BIK calculations, and double tax credits.
  • Reviewing, standardising, and improving processes and procedures where appropriate.
  • Involvement in payroll software changes, upgrades, integrations as may arise over time.

Skills and Experience required:

  • At least three years’ experience in a team lead or management role within the payroll function
  • IPASS and/or business qualification.
  • Irish and European payroll knowledge and experience.
  • Comfortable in a fast paced, challenging environment
  • Excellent time management with an ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, willing to engage across the organisation and engage as a business partner
  • Excellent process management and strong change management skills
